Marc MacYoung teaching defense against a knife at one of
his many seminars.
Marc MacYoung is one of the best
authors on the subject of street fighting and survival out
there, and he is also a good friend. I can not recommend his
books highly enough if you want to learn what it takes to
survive on the streets. He is not a traditionalist, he is a
survivor.
Besides learning from his books and
videos, I have had the chance to work and train with Marc in
Southern California. We would train in the day, then work at
night. It was always nice to have him at my back, because when
you are wondering if a dancer's gang banger boyfriend and
friends will be waiting for you, or you are controlling drunks
and turning them over to the cops, you need some one you can
rely on. Marc knows the ins and outs of American violence. He
can do a tactical withdrawal or he can blitzkrieg through
people, but more important, he knows the appropriate time to
do the above.
