Boulder, C) - The best defense is a strong offense. This is the principle that Jim Grover follows in his video "Situational Self-Offense: A Hard-Core Guide to Offense-Based Defensive Tactics." This video, from Paladin Press, picks up where his Combatives series leaves off, teaching how to use the basic combative kicks, strikes and principles in situational attacks.
In his no-nonsense style, Grover clearly instructs the viewer how to immediately take control of the situation by launching offensive weapons before your attacker has a chance to hurt you. He states that it's "Ten percent technique and 90 percent attitude," as he teaches hard-core responses to attacks such as lapel grabs, front chokes, full nelsons, bear hugs, head locks and other techniques.
This isn't martial arts, nor does it teach everything. What it is, however, is a well done instructional tape teaching simple, effective, offense-based responses to some of the more common street attack situations you may face. It's a great addition to any self-defense video library, and one from which you should learn
