Hard-Won Wisdom From the School of Hard Knocks: How to Avoid a Fight and Things To Do When You Can't or Don't Want To
HARD-WON WISDOM FROM THE SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS: How To Avoid a Fight and Things To Do When You Can't or Don't Want To by Alain Burrese with a forward by Marc "Animal" MacYoung.

This is not a book about learning a martial art, it's about Hard-won experience - - gained from actual confrontations, not the training hall - - form the backbone of this book.  Barracks ruckuses, dormitory disturbances and barroom brawls, accompanied by security work, bouncing and bodyguard positions, were the source of the experience and wisdom you'll find here.

Full of practical advice, this book covers the basics you will need to win a physical confrontation.  Following the training provided in this volume is what will save you when things get ugly.

Book Description From Publisher:
A realistic look at self-defense with loads of serious lessons and practical advice on fighting and violence, including awareness and avoidance.

Author Alain Burrese's actual experiences provide the backbone for this realistic look at self-defense. Barroom brawls, street fights, and barracks ruckuses combined with bouncing, security, and bodyguard work taught the author the realities of fighting and street violence. This informative and entertaining guide contains loads of serious lessons and practical advice on fighting and violence and gives you the knowledge you'll need to prevail in a physical encounter (including how to be aware of and avoid an impending fight). Burrese covers the physical aspects of self-defense such as punching, kicking and other related training, but more importantly, he covers the little discussed aspects of self-defense and fighting. Things such as: what you are wearing, who you are with, and most importantly your mental state and realizing when you don't have to fight. If you want to learn how to avoid a fight, or what to do when you can't or don't want to, Hard-Won Wisdom From the School of Hard Knocks is one you will thoroughly enjoy and learn from.

Author Alain Burrese is a former infantry paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division and scout sniper with the 2nd Infantry Division in South Korea. He taught at the 2nd ID Scout Sniper School during his 18-month tour. Alain Burrese's martial training also consists of Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, and Hapkido, including living and training in South Korea where he earned a black belt from the Korea Hapkido Federation. He has worked as bouncer, security and bodyguard and now holds a bachelor of science degree in management from the University of Montana in Missoula, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Montana School of Law.  Additionally, Burrese is a certified fitness trainer by the International Sports Sciences Association, and a certified Specialist in Martial Arts Conditioning by the ISSA.
