The Korea Hapkido Federation Oath

Hapkidoist's Oath (Pledge)

1) Filial Duty: Hapkidoists show respect toward their parents and home.

2) Brotherliness: Hapkidoists always strive to have good relationships with their brothers and sisters.

3) Faithfulness: Hapkidoists have faith and trust in their teachers and friends.

4) Loyalty: Hapkidoists do their best to be loyal to their country.

5) Humility: Hapkidoists do their best to be humble and courteous toward all people.

6) Knowledge: Hapkidoists strive to develop their knowledge in all things.

7) Integrity: Hapkidoists conduct all actions with uprightness and integrity.

8) Justice: Hapkidoists are just and righteous in all their duties.

9) Courage: Hapkidoists have the courage to stand up against injustices.

This is my translation of the oath that hung in my dojang (Hapkido Choiyukwan) in Kangnung, Korea. Thanks to Mr. Moon, Mr. Byeon, and Ham Yi Saeng for their help with the translation.  I do not know if it hangs in every KHF dojang in Korea, but it did mine, and I believe they are good tenants to follow, regardless of your training or affiliation.
