Ten Mistakes You Cannot Make When Confronted With A Violent Situation by Jim Grover, aka Kelly McCann

I just posted on my webpage that my first "Security" pick regarding book and video resources is the book Street Smarts, Firearms, & Personal Security: Jim Grover's Guide to Staying Alive and Avoiding Crime in the Real World by Jim Grover, aka Kelly McCann.

This is a great book of articles and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to know more about personal security, self-defense, and firearms. You can learn more about this book under the Personal Security & Self-Defense Products section of my website. As I took it out to add it to my "picks" I realized just how much good information is contained in these articles and decided to read it again. In one of the first articles "Enough is Enough: It's Time For Decent People to Take Back the Streets" he provides ten mistakes you cannot make when confronted with a violent situation:

1. Don't hope it goes away. Take the necessary action to end the situation.
2. Don't expect there to be even a glimmer of compassion in your attacker - there isn't.
3. Don't believe the playing field will be even when you are attacked. Conditions will be most advantageous to your attacker and you will be most vulnerable.
4. Don't apply your social restraint to their attack. The two are not compatible.
5. Don't believe you can compete normally with their level of violence. They are abnormal.
6. Don't be confrontational or challenging. The situation is bad enough; letting our anger urge you headlong into a situation won't help.
7. Don't give up, ever, if attacked.
8. Don't promulgate a lie to yourself or your loved ones. The realities of today are what they are, and they need to know hard-core facts about them.
9. Don't forget, YOU didn't start anything or ask for trouble.
10. Never forget number 7.

I highly respect Kelly McCann and recommend all of his materials. If you have not read this book, you should check it out. It contains a lot of good information.

Stay Safe,

Alain

Martial Art Video Reviews review of Lock On vol 1

Hapkido Hoshinsul made the top 10 at the Martial Art Video Reviews site. The site has just reviewed Lock On Volume 1 Wrist Locks and it recieved a perfect score. Out of nearly 400 reviews, Lock On Volume 1 stands out as one of the highest reviews.

Check it out at:

http://home.att.net/~erik.mann/lockon1.htm

I set out to create dvds that would actually teach people and help them with their training. From all of the positive reviews and e-mails I have been recieving, I know I am achieving those goals.

The Lock On 5 volume set when completed will set the standard for joint locking instructional materials, just as my new hapkido cane dvd that will be released by Paladin Press this summer will set the standard for cane resources. I have a number of other projects in the works, so stay tuned for more.

I also want to thank everyone who has taken the time to write me. I appreciate you all, and look forward to meeting up at a seminar or other event in the future.

Yours in Training,

Alain
