Three Rules of Action

In the military, there are three rules of action that are taught. These three rules will help you in a self-defense situation as well. Apply these to your training and attack back philosophy.

1. Violence of Action: When you must attack back, do so with everything you have. You must give it your all and keep fighting until your opponent is neutralized. Aggressiveness and total commitment to do what is necessary will most likely determine the victor in combat. You must be willing to do whatever is necessary to survive!

2. The Element of Surprise: Act quickly, and if attached, react quickly when the opponent does not think you will, and do so with force. Most attackers think they are going to win, and do so easily, or they wouldn’t have attacked. Surprise him by leaping into action with your jab to the eyes, palm heel smash to the nose, kick to the knee, head butt to the face and so on. Whatever you are going to attack back with, do it fast without hesitation.

3. Momentary Impression of Superior Fire Power: As I've said, a person attacked you because they believed they would win. Your attacker is most likely not prepared for you to immediately attack back and fight hard from the get go. You must immediately give your opponent the impression that you have the superior strength, ability, and firepower. Take it too him, outgun him, and make him back off. Attacking back with a full-scale aggressive response may be enough to send him back peddling and maybe even fleeing.
